In addition to consulting, as a Visiting Fellow at Cranfield University’s Doughty Centre for Corporate Responsibility he is developing a case study based on his experience in Australia – focusing on a corporate’s role in developing the sustainability of the industry in which it plays, and the role that industry
Corporate Relations
Ron was Director of Corporate Relations for Diageo Australasia, with responsibility for Corporate Communications, Government and Public Affairs, Diageo’s community and environment programmes, and for developing Responsible Drinking programmes within Diageo and the local community.
Diageo Australia has been a key player, along with other leading members of the Australian Beverage Alcohol industry, in developing an all-of-industry-all-of-community partnership, DrinkWise Australia, established to tackle the mis-use of alcohol by focusing on the drinking culture of Australians.
Within Diageo Australia, Ron has pioneered two key initiatives, the first targeting employees, called “DRINKiQ”, the second, a clear device placed on all Diageo’s products clearly showing the standard drink content of the alcohol beverage. This initiative is being endorsed by government and is being followed by several other companies.

Born in South Africa, Ron graduated with a B.Sc. Honours degree from the University of

Prior to joining Diageo in 2001, Ron’s business career had spanned two decades in Asia and Australasia.
He has been Managing Director of two successful marketing companies, Swedish Motors (Volvo) in Thailand and New Zealand Breweries (Steinlager) in Auckland,
As a consultant based in Australia, Ron worked for a wide range of companies in the US, Japan, Thailand, Australia, and
Experience in Sustainability Since 1989!
As a consultant based in Thailand, he assisted in the building of several new ventures, sat on various committees representing the foreign business community, was founding President of the South Africa-Thai Chamber of Commerce, and a director of the Board Of Trade of Thailand for five years. He started a company focusing on environmental solutions for business, The Better Environment Company, which later was forced to close as a result of the Asian Financial crisis of 1997.
A Teacher
He has taught business subjects at leading Universities in Thailand: Thammasat, Chulalongkorn, Burapa, Webster (US) University’s Thai Campus, and the University of South Australia’s Thai Campus. He is a regular visiting teacher at the Royal Business School in Vietnam.
